In the rapidly changing scenario of 21st century, the approach towards teaching has also changed. The world is moving from traditional classroom teaching methods to modern learning methods. The school classrooms are also adapting to the same, however, all learners are not able to adapt to the newer methods. Further, sometimes the classrooms have more strength and students are not able to clarify their doubts. On the other hand, Academic Coaching, outside the school, generally has less students and provide the required opportunity to the children to gain better personal access of the teacher. They can clarify their doubts, clear their queries without any hesitation and thus gain a better understanding of the concepts.
At Learning Minds, to provide maximum advantages to students, we have designed our own strategy and our pedagogy includes:
Every child is special, with unique combinations of abilities and needs that affect learning. And all children deserve the opportunity to learn in ways that make the most of their strengths and help them overcome their weaknesses. We truly hold to this that since learning capabilities of students are different, it is not justified to deliver the content to the whole class in the same way and then expect similar results from all of them. We strive to develop the educational plans for the students individually based on their needs and learning styles. Accordingly, we customise the lessons and teaching style to match with the students' learning requirements.
Time never becomes a restraint for our academic coaches and we don’t get guided by the clocks. Aiming towards the desired outcome, we go beyond the fixed time and fixed days to get the results.
At Learning Minds, assessment is entwined with teaching-learning process. We believe in teaching with regular assessment. Holding weekly tests of the students is an inevitable part of our teaching methodology.
Academic performance of children gets better with joint efforts of parents and tutors. All parents may not be able to contribute academically but their emotional and moral support goes a long way. We make special efforts to strengthen our communication with parents. We hold that the coordination between parents and teachers is the key to the growth of a child, especially for academic growth.
Special academic classes are organised by bringing experts from different institutions, besides the regular classes. This helps in providing special inputs required by the students to have an enhanced understanding of the concept and excel academically.
There are so many resources available that at times it becomes difficult for students to sift through them and remember the desired content. We provide them with the easy-to-access notes so that they can visit and revisit them at their own convenience, even in comfort of their homes.
Self-confidence is extremely important in almost every aspect of life and at every stage of life, especially during childhood. A child who is confident about own capabilities is likely to perform better. Children who lack self- confidence generally find it difficult to become successful. We consciously work to build on self- confidence of children by enhancing self- esteem and strengthening self- efficacy.
Environment plays a significant role in determining the learning outcome of students and a positive environment leads to a positive outcome. At Learning Minds, we give emphasis on creating a conducive learning environment for the students so that they feel strengthened and more confident.
It is a common proverb that 'All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy'. In the same spirit, we try to strike a balance between the academic activities and recreational activities for our students. We regularly organize various activities of interest for them.
Using social media platforms like Whatsapp, students at Learning Minds have consistent access to their tutors. So the students can reach to their tutors even when they are not at the centre and want to access help from their tutors.
Mathematics has generally been considered as a difficult subject. There is a reasonable number of children who have maths phobia also. This is more to do with the traditional methods of teaching-learning mathematics. Abacus and Vedic Mathematics have evolved as alternative methods of understanding and doing the mathematics, especially calculations differently and in an easy manner. Both offer other advantages besides learning mathematics.
Learning Minds provides opportunities for both Abacus and Vedic Mathematics – you can choose depending on the age and natural inclination of child. We have trained professionals for both Abacus and Vedic Mathematics.
Abacus was originally invented during Greek and Roman times, but has evolved into different types as it travelled across the world. China innovated Abacus further and used it heavily in day-to-day life for calculations. Its use can build confidence, provide a sense of achievement, promote intuitive thinking, enhance problem-solving capability, stimulate creativity, heighten mental visualisation skills and improve concentration and mental endurance. Besides it makes calculations easier to handle and faster to manage.
Abacus math should be started at very early childhood, as young as age 4 years. If started during later ages, it may create a bit of hindrance.
Our Hindu philosophy is based on Veda-s and mathematics translated from these texts is termed as Vedic Mathematics. Sri Bharati KrsnaTirthaji rediscovered these ancient scriptures and then translated the complex text into simpler understandable mathematics. Based on 16 vedic sutras, Vedic mathematics use 16 one-line formulae (sutra), which can be easily memorized, enables one to solve long mathematical problems quickly. These formulae describe the way the mind naturally works and are therefore a great help in directing the student to the appropriate method of solution. Vedic mathematics can be started at later ages as well without any difficulty.
Drawing is generally considered as a leisure activity, however, it plays a big role in our cognitive development. It can help us learn to write and think creatively, develop hand-eye co-ordination, hone analytic skills, and conceptualise ideas. For secondary school students, drawing can be incorporated into learning in many ways, including visual mapping, reflective thinking, organising and presenting information, and a way of communication that can transcend language barriers.
At Learning Minds, we provide drawing classes from the scribbling stage (2-4 years) to the artistic decision stage (14-17 years). The experiences in our classes help the children to think creatively and learn simple visual organisation techniques.
Handwriting is simply writing with one’s own hands. It is one of the most basic tool used for taking notes, doing homework, taking tests, doing classwork and many other tasks. It is a very essential skill and its benefits are extended to brain development, improves writing skills, boosts confidence, and attracts good marks. It can make a person an artist or a calligrapher in future.
Realising the importance of good handwriting, we at Learning Minds have provided courses for handwriting improvement across the age groups. Our teachers realise very well that improving handwriting is not a difficult task at any age – it just needs time, practice and adequate help.
